Guacamole and Chips
Guacamole and Chips are the best snack in the history of snacks! Making homemade guacamole from scratch using fresh avocados is one of my favorite things to do. When choosing avocados from the store for your guacamole, try to choose the softest you can, if you plan to make the guacamole the same day. Feel the avocados carefully to make sure they are not hard to the touch, otherwise you may have to wait a few days if you want to make the guacamole immediately. Guacamole also is one way to incorporate the healthy fats from Avocados into your diet. Just be sure to not eat the whole bowl!
You can add hot peppers to this recipe, diced tomatoes, onions, or salsa if you’d like to fill it out a little or make it spicier. I prefer my guacamole on the simpler side. Also try not to 0ver-salt the guacamole, particularly if you are pairing it with salted tortilla chips. There’s already enough salt in the chips to make the combination flavorful.
This guacamole can also be used as a topping for other Mexican dishes like Tacos, Quesadillas, or Burritos. I would also use this Guacamole as a dip for veggies like carrots or broccoli, if you are trying to go for something lighter.
Guacamole is one of my favorite summer dishes! Avocados are one of my favorite heart-healthy foods. Combine with cilantro and lime juice for a zesty flavor.
