Olive Garden is now selling burgers. My response to this:
Whatever happened to sticking to what you are good at?
Olive Garden has added an “Italiano” burger to its ever-expanding menu. Now, I understand that Olive Garden wants to please all those burger lovers out there, and I admit I haven’t tasted the burger yet so I have no comments on that- BUT: isn’t Olive Garden supposed to be know for its Italian food? I’ve been to Olive Garden many times, and I absolutely love their food. I might even go so far as to write a second “Best Olive Garden Review Ever”.
But, Olive Garden is selling burgers now? LAME-O. This is not something I can get behind. Maybe if the burger comes with a side of Fettucine Alfredo and an unlimited supply of soup, salad and breadsticks?
The “Italiano” burger features a six ounce beef patty topped with prosciutto, mozzarella cheese, arugula, tomatoes and garlic aioli. It is served with Parmesan Garlic Fries (don’t even get me started on how NOT ITALIAN fries are). I have to wonder what’s next for Olive Garden, like will they start offering hot dogs next, and market them as “Italian Sausage”. What about a selection of “Cannoli Ice Cream Shakes”, which are really just glorified Blizzards from Dairy Queen.
The burger is priced at $9.99 and will be served during lunch. I can only guess that a lot of Americans will like having an option of a burger on Olive Garden’s menu, and for those people have to say: GO TO MCDONALDS!
